Hot Stones

I've been known to indulge in a few spa treatments from time to time, in fact they could probably my specialist subject on Mastermind but for some reason I've never had a Hot Stone treatment.

I probably won't do the experience justice in retelling, but I'll do my best.

I lay face down on a massage bed as per normal, I'd chosen the oil I wanted (a blend of relaxing and soothing oil) a lovely lady by the name of Jana entered the room and with low lights and soft voice began to work her fingers in to my skin. I'm rather tense around the upper shoulders and lower back so I'd asked for those areas to be given particular attention.

After a while (I've no idea how long, the whole time passed in a blur) when I was warm and softened up she began to dig deep into my muscles, then she took a hot smooth stone from the heating dish and held it briefly in her hand, then passed that newly hot hand over my body, she passed the stone from hand to hand in a very fluid motion.
When the stone had cooled down ever so slightly she kept it in her hand as her hand flowed across my back, the extra heat and pressure was exquisite - I can't do justice to the feeling of utter relaxation that came over me.
She then seemed to run the stone across my whole back and shoulders before taking it down my arm and placed it on my up turned palm.
I was totally relaxed on the table but as she placed the stone on my hand it seemed to 'ground me' it was if that the weight of the stone (slightly bigger than my palm) was holding me down on the table, I couldn't have lifted my hand even if I had wanted to.
She then followed the same procedure with another similar sized stone and placed it warm and smooth in my other hand.

I was there on the table un willing or unwanting to move. Jana took 2 smaller stones, took the heat from them with her hands and ran them over my body for what seemed like an age, then she placed them in to what seemed like their natural resting point, the small of my back, the curve of my spine just above my bottom.

If the stones on my hands had grounded me I can't even explain what those next stones did. It felt like my whole body was liquid floating around with only those stones stopping me from flying up in the air (yes yes I know liquid doesn't usually float, but that's what it felt like).

She then carried on placing other stones alongside my spine and around my upper shoulders, I felt as if I was completely flat on the table. No bones or muscles dipping and curving, just a fluid mass of relaxion.
Occasionally she changed some of the earlier stones with new hot ones but it was done with such finesses that I barely noticed.

Jana then worked on the backs of my legs, first running large stones across my thighs and down my calves to place them on my up turned soles. This was probably as well as my legs might well have floated up if she hadn't!

Small stones behind my knees were wonderful, one of my knees is quite weak after a dislocation some time ago that didn't heal very well, but at that moment it felt soft and pliable as if I could have stretched and flexed it a thousand times with out it creaking.

By then the stones were cool to body temperature, it seemed like their presence was no longer holding me down, although I was still relaxed. But then Jana started to remove the stones, again in a gentle fluid motion and as each stone lifted from me I felt sad, as if she had take my limb/foot/shoulder blade away from my body at the same time.

She smoothed me over with her gentle touch and asked me to turn over.
Then standing behind me she started the familiar routine with the hot hot stone, she found just the perfect sized stone to slide between my breasts and rest there, my shoulders, elbows, tummy and hips soon all had the same wonderful feeling of being completely relaxed.

At that point she took out smaller stones and worked on my face, she gave me a wonderful head massage and placed small stones on my forehead, under my eyes and on my chin. It was bliss.

Then sadly it was time to remove them all, as she did I felt my body lighter than ever, a similar feeling when a heavy plaster cast was removed, I'd got used to the weight, the pressure and my body, my shoulders, my neck all seemed to almost throw off gravity.

She covered me with a warm towel and left me to come back to reality.

It was without doubt the best treatment I've ever had.

Now of course I have to find out if it was Jana that was wonderful or the treatment itself, so very soon I'll have to nip down to my favourite spa in Hong Kong and book in for my next Hot Stone treatment.

A treatment I would thoroughly recommend each and every one of you take if given the opportunity.

That. Sounds. So. Great. I would kill for an experience like that right now.
