Not quite the way I remembered it

I had a call this afternoon from a friend who I've not seen in ages, he asked if I was able to get away to meet up for a coffee, as it happened I could!

We've not seen each other in ages, but talk regularly on the phone (both of us call each other although he probably calls more often) at least once a week and exchange a few emails from time to time.
But, it's been 6 months since we've actually been face to face, although we have tried to meet up a few times over the summer it just never happened, he lives a boat ride away and I'm an Islander. Sounds pathetic I know, but time just slips by, he doesn't like to make an arrangement/a plan to meet up and I'm almost always busy when he suggests something last minute.

I have a photo of him, from a junk trip last summer on my desk so I probably glance at him a few times a day but he's not got one of me I guess.

Anyway, it wasn't an easy chat at all, we were awkward with each other, as if it were a first date or something. Most odd.
He told me how I had changed, complemented me on my 'new' hair style and asked if my boobs had grown bigger.

But it was such hard work! Which is really odd as we can easily loose an hour talking on the phone at times. Maybe we know too much about each others life (partners and such) but not being together in the flesh for so long has made it strange.

Mind you the last time we met, which was 3 weeks after he started going out with his new gf we went for lunch, where 8 of her friends also were - who took it in turns to come over and chat to him/interrupt our lunch. The gf also phoned him 5 times during the 3 hour lunch and sent 4 sms's. Lucky he had told her ahead of time who he was meeting or she might have really been pissed off!
