Hero? I don't think so

Just checking out the BBC web site and I saw this story, now I'm a tad tipsy but there is no way that withholding sex from a non voter gives anyone the right to call themself a "Hero"

Those who take the most extreme pledge, called "American hero", commit themselves to having sex with another 2004 voter as well as turning down all non-voters until the 2008 vote.

That's bollocks.

Hero

  • In mythology and legend, a man, often of divine ancestry, who is endowed with great courage and strength, celebrated for his bold exploits, and favored by the gods.
  • A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life: soldiers and nurses who were heroes in an unpopular war.
  • A person noted for special achievement in a particular field: the heroes of medicine.
  • The principal male character in a novel, poem, or dramatic presentation.

I think it's time that a new word was invented/coined for the real Hero's of our world, it's one of those words that has been over used by every quick footed athlete or loud mouthed politician. Any suggestions?

Audacious, bold, brave, courageous, dauntless, doughty, fearless, fortitudinous, gallant, game, hardy, intrepid, mettlesome, plucky, stout, stouthearted, unafraid, undaunted, valiant, valorous.

Valorous is my favourite I think so far, but then in the sober light of day I might be able to think of some more!

Doughty is quite a good word, but doesn't sum up quite enough of a Gladiator image, more of a Pillsbury Dough Boy. OK time I went to bed I know!

You brits are just jealous you can't really vote.

I mean, you have a vote, but you also have a Queen.

What's up with monarchs anyway?

In fact, you are so jealous, that you want to influence American elections by writing to Ohio voters.

Ohio? It may be a swing state, but that doesn't mean it can be swayed.

Try writing somewhere more classy, like Rhode Island.

Personally, I much prefer a campaign that encourages sex to one that discourages it. Which is why I'm a fan of www.fthevote.com. Additionally, who gives a fuck whether people are voting ::cough-heh-cough::? It's all about whether they're voting correctly...
