This afternoon by accident I found myself walking through a large shopping mall, it was filled with grumpy looking people, harrased and spending money they could probably not afford, shop workers trying hard to smile while the same CD of Christmas carols played in the back ground for the 256 time today. Then I saw a sight that made me stop and smile and watch it unfold.
A small boy, probably around two years old was walking along holding his fathers hand, when he stopped and looked in awe at the huge huge Christmas tree in front of him, it was decorated with shining ornaments and lights, and surrounded by a bed of cotton wool, sprinkled with glitter. His father didn't rush him on, like so many other parents, he stopped and crouched down to his sons level and pointed out certain ornaments dangling on the tree, they approached the cotton wool together and carefully the father reached out and touched it, bringing his hand to show his son the sparkly glitter encouraging him to reach out him self, he did and after a few more minutes of looking at the tree, they walked on hand in hand.
That is what Christmas decorations should be like for everyone! Taking a moment with a loved one to stop and marvel.
Discombobulated: To be thrown into a state of confusion.
