I'm often quick to complain about the rudeness of HK taxi drivers, but earlier this week when I was in the back of a taxi talking to a friend on the phone after receiving some scary/horrid news there was an extremely kind driver, he passed me a box of tissues so that I didn't have to hold back the tears that were threatening to burst forth.
I don't know if he was able to understand what I was saying, but he certainly could see that I was holding myself together by a thread.
For a moment I wanted to stay safely in that taxi and not have to speak to anyone else, just be able to cry and not explain the reason why. But no, I had to leave and step out into the world on my own as usual and face up to things.
Friends and loved ones have rallied around offering kind words and calming advice but its the kindness of the driver who said "take care" as I left the cab that can make me smile, just a little!
Discombobulated: To be thrown into a state of confusion.
