Three hurt in Princess's fountain

The water to the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park has been switched off after three visitors were hurt when they slipped over, the Royal Parks said.
An ambulance was called to the scene after the three slipped on the same stone steps on the east side of the source pool.
The Royal Parks said the fountain was turned off at 3pm because of health and safety reasons and would remain so until an investigation had been carried out.
Theo Moore, spokesman for the Royal Parks, said: "We are obviously very concerned about their welfare and hope they recover swiftly.

"We immediately switched off the flow of water and will not be turning it back on until we are satisfied it is safe to do so. A full and thorough investigation has already started."
Mr Moore said a meeting of the designers, engineers and independent health and safety experts had been called.

The fountain would remain switched off until the investigation is complete and any additional safety features that may prove necessary are in place, he added.

Earlier this month, the water was stopped due to a blocked pump. That came less than a week after the £3.6 million feature was flooded by fallen leaves.

Thousands of people have visited the memorial, located alongside the Serpentine, since it was officially opened by the Queen on July 6.
The fountain consists of a large granite ring with water pouring into the structure and running in two directions.
