Just say no

I've offended someone I've never met either in real life or online.

I was playing Backgammon online, I've not played in a while, anyway I was doing quite well, winning the last 5 out of 6 games and the guy I was playing with asked if he could add me to his IM. I said I'd rather not, I was just here to play not chat plus I don't chat on IM that much anyway.

He had tried to engage me in chat chat during the match but that was putting me off so I just replied in the briefest of lines, anyway he took the hump, told me he was offended and left - just as soon as I had beaten him for the final time.

Now if it had been a chat room I had gone into I would understand, but it wasn't it was a backgammon game room!
I was just there to polish up my moves as there is a possibility I might be playing a game in real life in the near future but for the first time in a long time I didn't worry about upsetting someone (all be it a total stranger who I am unlikely to ever meet online again, never mind in real life) that has to be a step in the right direction towards not putting so much energies into pleasing other so much!
