I laid there negotiating with myself to have 10 more minutes, things like, I won't check the Coronation St update before work or perhaps that load of washing can wait another day.
Then I awoke with a start as I realised that I'd been dreaming about negotiations and now I was 20 mins behind my morning routine. So leaping out of bed in a single bound I jumped into the shower and by the time I had emerged all fresh for a new day I was very nearly late!
But ..... still managed to check my inbox while cleaning my teeth with my new tooth brush as that has a timer, which meant I could only read as many emails as it took to give my teeth a sparkling going over.
The first email I received was from my darling surrogate son, he's just heading off around the world and is of course making Hong Kong his first stop, when I saw him at Christmas time I was appalled at how *unorganised he and his traveling companion were i.e. they didn't realise they had to get visas .......... *ahem* that's what happens when one only travels in Europe as a British Citizen I guess!
Anyway yesterday while feeling blue I made a list of the countries where he plans to go, which ones needed pre arranged visas, shots etc and a list of phone numbers for the British embassy's along his way.
World wide list here, if anyone should want the number of the Embassy in Burkina Faso!
I also called in favours from those that know me around the globe and have got him places to stay in Singapore, Fiji, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Auckland,Christchurch, Los Angeles, New York and just in case of emergencies places at a few other cities on the way.
I got his reply this morning.
cheers mia,its strange that after 10 years of you not being around 24/7 to look out for me you have still proved to be the most useful person i know (apart from mum and her purse, hehehe). cheers for all the dates and contacts im sure they will come in loads of use. and i will probably see you in about 5 or 6 weeks. au revoirs ted
So immediately I felt happier, I have been useful!
To someone I love deeply, I would stop a bullet for this boy** and his sister and they were the hardest people to say goodbye to when I moved overseas, in fact if I had known at the time it would have been for longer than the planned 12 months I would never have been able to leave them, nor would they have left me.
Now I just have to get some tips for all the boys in Hong Kong, where do you think an 18 year old lad would like to go while in Hong Kong?
* Of course the upside of this is that if he had got himself into gear last month he would have planned to be in Thailand for Christmas. So for that reason alone I'll not give him a hard time!**I will be mentioning capital letters to him at some point though! :)
The Second email I opened was from my favourite lingerie store
If you're looking for a pick me up after the madness of Christmas, why not treat yourself to a little something from the XXX sale? Several of our really popular lingerie and swimwear styles are now available to buy online, over the phone, or in our shops at fantastic prices!
Oh............ all right then.

places for an 18year old lad to go to for fun in HK...ooh that's a hard one!
Start with 298 or wanchai computer centre, then nip over the bridge to the wanchai bar area for some much needed libations...then maybe LKF later on.
that should be a good start!
Where he not a surrogate son I would suggest that the most interesting place in HK is Mia's lingerie draw...
Scotsman
Henry, riiiiiiiight, thanks for that start!
Scotsman, Hello you, long time no hear!
18 year old boy?
Quick dip in the harbour, or maybe a spot of skiing up on the peak.
Failing that, there's the triple whammy of Fenwicks, Neptune II and Strawberry, and instructions not to come back until he's found a girl with the same last name as him.
That'll learn him a thing or two.
Wanbro
I am sooooooo soooooooo not sending my boy to Fenwicks!
Anywhere that turns Mia away is not having him!
