Went out for dinner at the new S & M restaurant in Soho last night.
By the way S&M stands for Sausages and Mash.
They also have seafood and vegetarian options on the menu.
I have to say that never have I been in a restaurant where everyone was so genuinely excited about the menu.
There was a couple of guys to my right who were just so excited that it took them a good 15 mins of reading the menu before they were able to order.
They had the 'big as a small plate' Yorkshire puddings with lashings of gravy as a starter. Which I would also recommend!
And as for the couple beside us, well those Canadians ...... what do they know about Sausages anyway! But the Canuck went straight for an 'Extreme' order. He was very pleased with it and managed to polish it off ok.
The service was excellent, the food was varied and delicious, the staff were knowledgeable and if they didn't know an answer they were quick to go and check with the chef. They had a fairly decent flow of customers but at no point did we feel rushed.
We had Fish Bites for starters which were in a tasty light batter and a tasty Garlic Mayonnaise dip and a green salad, which was the only slight disappointment on the table last night.
But it was green and it was salad.
I decided to split my sausage order between the Spicy Hungarian Debreziner and the Lincolnshire. The Smoking Man went for a full order of German Veal Sausage but then we both swapped and shared anyway. The Hungarian was spicy and tasty, the Lincolnshire was full of flavour but the German sausage got our vote last night.
4 variations of mash and 4 of gravy to choose from with a side order of garden peas, although we did notice that you could if you wish, have a side order of sausage.
And for dessert Chocolate Bread and Butter pudding.
Delicious and a decent price. Good luck to them.
And yes they do deliver.
Discombobulated: To be thrown into a state of confusion.
